Why is ghost hunting a male dominated field?

I am curious to know why ghost hunting is a male dominated field. I am a ghost huntress and am trying to present my unique way of ghost hunting to the public. I hunt for ghost alone not in groups. I go into dangerous area that grown men or camera crews would never venture into. I am not afraid of a thing in the paranormal world...only the living. Women love my look and courage. Men write to me and want to take me to bed and then I get the nasty comments from men telling me to stay home a bake cookies. I thought sexist views went out with the fifties.
Love to hear your thoughts on this subject.
lovey a,

I agree, there should be more women involved in the paranormal. It would be totally awesome if there was a show with a group of women investigators, or just one, not just for the ghost hunting, but also as role models for other women I'm so thankful for your courage, it was in the past couple of years that I was able to admitt to my friends that I have the gift of discerning spirits and in doing so, I've been able to help many of them :) It's a wonderful feeling. Keep up great work!

Hi CC, as a woman who has worked in lots of male dominated fields, I can say from experience that especially if youre reasonably good looking, they will torture you on so many levels that you want to leave...then they can say "see I told you she couldnt hack it". Fortunately I grew up with all brothers, so I can take it, but I know that they fear an awesome woman, for what reason? I dont know.

I am actually surprised that more women aren't in the field, I think they tend to be more reponsive and intuitive in catching, feeling, and seeing ghosts. However, in the groups I been involved in, while it is run by males, the groups tends to have an 80% female membership, and I swear majority of the males in these groups are gay. It is such an open vast field that there is room for everyone.

I think it has something to do with our different emotional roles in the world. Please note that I am not being sexist in anyway, but there are differences between men and women. I believe women tend to listen to their emotional selves a little more than men, which opens them up more easily to the realm of the supernatural. Maybe more women are 'afraid' of the paranormal because, to them, it is a reality that has always been persistent to some degree, whether they know it or not. By the time they have learned to deal with these 'emotions,' they have learned to ignore them. With men, I feel like like of us are easily given to this side of ourselves. It is something that is thrown out the window from an early stage of life and it takes years to re-establish that connection. A feeling will not overwhelm most men, as they are not even paying attention to that part of their brain. Just my views on the topic. I hope I managed to come out not sounding too sexist ;)
